there are some parallels between the lottery vote in 1992 and the transportation fight to come. … Advocates of both the lottery and the transportation referendum expected to face the most difficulty in suburban or rural areas. In their favor they touted an issue of high importance to all voters: education in the case of the lottery and regional transportation in the case of the tax referendum.
The lottery…. ah yes. And, uh, how’s that HOPE promise working out for all you graduating seniors out there?
Kind of like the toll roads, eh? Just another empty promise?
If people are foolish enough to vote in this transportation tax, just wait to see what empty promises are revealed in 10 years. Of course, it won’t be anything that can’t be cured by MORE TAXES.
