The irony in all this is that property values dropping at this rate are likely to represent the very areas where the county may come in and declare them “blighted” so that they can target the area for “redevelopment” (a.k.a., “mixed use”). All the while claiming they care about “affordable housing” for people like Ms. Johnson. Yea, right. The county wins. The developers win. The tax-payers get stuck with the bill, and who knows where that leaves the Ms. Johnsons of the world. And to think that the politicians who are making these decisions may have even bought Ms. Johnson’s vote makes it all the more disgusting and despicable.
